Kilmartin Museum Redevelopment
Aaron is collaborating with Kilmartin Museum's Redevelopment team to develop themes and interpretations in support of a Heritage Lottery Fund Round 2 funding application. The ambition for the project is to transform Kilmartin Museum through the construction of state of the art facilities, including exhibitions, a Collections store, and research and education spaces, thereby securing its future as a major heritage hub on Scotland's west coast.
As a specialist in Neolithic and Bronze Age archaeology, Aaron is working as a consultant at a strategic level with project partners, including Reiach and Hall Architects and exhibition designers Bright 3D. 'It has been fantastic to discuss the possibilities of how current interpretations of prehistoric landscapes and monuments might be communicated to wider audiences through the convergence of architecture, artefacts and dynamic multimedia'.
Aaron is drawing upon his previous experiences in the Kilmartin landscape, including the excavation of rock art sites and a long-term collaboration undertaking photographic and film making commissions for Kilmartin Museum. Earlier in the year he also contributed to the development of a Regional Archaeological Research Framework for Argyll.
The results of the Heritage Lottery Fund application will be announced in 2018. For further information, please see the Kilmartin Museum website and future updates.
